About
Angola45 aims to promote classic Angolan music with occasional forays into other so-called Portuguese-speaking African countries. It features out-of-print titles or releases otherwise difficult to obtain. All files are for review purposes and intend to encourage the appreciation of many obscure artists who deserve wider recognition. If you own the copyright of any material and would like it to be removed just say so.
Dear Angola45, where can I find biographies of Os Kiezos and David Zé? Best, domingos
Hi Domingos,
I have no idea, other than searching for articles on Angolan newspapers and going through liner notes on reissued CDs.
I can recommend the following book: “Intonations: a social history of music and nation in Luanda, Angola from 1945 to recent times” by Marissa J. Moorman (Ohio University Press, 2008).
Abraço,
Angola45
Hi Angola45,
I am a history student in Ireland studying Nationalism in African in the 20th C, and was wondering if you could tell me anything about Belita Palma? Information on her seems very scarce and hard to find!
I’d appreciate any help. Thank you. All the best.
Hi Eimear,
I know many a great song sung by Belita – and her choice of repertoire will surely help your work – but can’t really improve on what you can find online, say, here:

Boa tarde Angola 45,
Parabéns pelo blog. Gostei de ouvir Os Gambuzinos após 40 anos.
Sabe de algum link onde tenha algumas letras das musicas do Sofia Rosa, nomeadamente Kalumba, Manhinga Mami e Maria Dia Pambala?
Obrigado
Daniel
Obrigado, Daniel.
Em relação à sua pergunta, infelizmente não faço ideia se alguém já se deu ao trabalho de transcrever canções do Sofia.
Talvez pelo YouTube possa aparecer algo do género mais dia menos dia?
Abraço!
Hi Angola45,
I am a profound record collector. I recently stumbled upon this record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK6FguwPUio. While I was trying to find out more about this man Antonio Samandjolo on the internet the only thing I could find was your blog. There is no information about this man on the internet. I cant even find the release on discogs. Perhaps you know more about this man and his music? I’d really appreciate it.
All the best
Dion.
